Project Management Framework

This module provides an introduction to Project Management Framework concepts and the terminology commonly encountered in the world of project management. Further, it describes the constraints and benefits of project management, and then presents an overview of project management standards and related disciplines. After forming into project teams, students begin to identify a problem or opportunity that needs to be solved. This will lead to the process of selecting and prioritizing projects.

Intro to Computer Skills (3 Credits)

Introduces the basic features of Microsoft Office, Windows basics, and file management. Develops familiarity with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, email, and Internet basics. Upon completion of this course, you will have chance to test for a certificate of completion.

Closing a Project/Capstone Presentation

Closing a project formalizes acceptance of the product, service, or result and brings the project or a project phase to an orderly end. As the final requirement for completion of the certificate, students present their capstone project and share lessons learned.

Infection Control in Dentistry

The NC Administrative Code specifies that each healthcare organization in the state, including dentistry, shall designate a staff member to direct infection control activities. The designated staff member in each dental office shall complete a course in infection control addressing seven specific areas. This course satisfies the required infection control training as mandated by the Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE).

Initiating and Planning a Project

Project teams will initiate a project by completing a project charter, then the project teams will identify project stakeholders and develop a stakeholder register. The project teams begin the process planning a project in earnest by conducting a risk analysis, creating a communication plan, developing a work breakdown structure, and defining the required tasks. Students then estimate duration and work for all tasks in the project.

This combined 80 hour billing and coding course offers the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-9 manual), complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures.

Moving Towards Artful Coaching

This course provides exposure to and experience with a range of tools and processes to deepen coaching effectiveness and creativity. The Core Competencies are grouped into four clusters according to those that fit together logically based on common ways of looking at the competencies in each group. Scheduling, Tracking and Reporting

Microsoft® Project is introduced in this module allowing the students to master the software while planning the work involved in the project and determining the project schedule. After finalizing the project plan, the project baseline is set against which progress is tracked and performance is measured so that corrective action can be taken. Students then master the aspects of Microsoft® Project used in tracking projects, controlling project variances, and creating management status reports.
